You will need to know (or estimate) some information about your lights: the quantity of fixtures, the current wattage, and the number of hours each day that they are on. If you know your electric rate ($/kWh), enter that next, or you can use the U.S. average electric rate of $0.10/kWh. If you do not know the wattage of your existing lights, this may help: typical exterior pole lights are 1000W, many indoor high bay lights are 400W, and wall packs or low bay lights are often 250W. You can enter information for up to 4 sets of lights that are different wattages or operate on different schedules. The results shown are based on installing the most common and applicable gHID solution. However, projects can have specific goals such as a need to increase the amount of light or maximize energy savings, so results may vary.
